Introduction
What you need to earn online
The Kenyan economy is tough and everyone is looking for ways to make an extra shilling. One of the hardest things is trying to figure out how to start out in the online platform. What most of you probably have found once you have look online is scam after scam after scams. Is it possible to earn a living online? Yes. Now what l want to discourage is that it is easy work. Working online requires skills and dedication just like any other job you would go out there and get. It is not something where you just sit and expect money to fall into your pocket. Right now everyone is trying to get into this business and you are just in luck, there are those who've tested the waters and are here to help you out. There are some key things that I always that newbies do...
1. Research, Research, Research
First of all, what do other people do? How do they go about? Go out and find a mentor who will hand-hold you through this whole process. Don't be afraid to pay to get trained but ensure whoever you are paying has good recommendations. Join Facebook groups with folks with the same agenda as you (Birds of the same feather flock together)!!
2. Identify your Skills
Online work is not all roses. Is this what you are cut out for? Identify your skills- in short do a SWOT on yourself. I tell people that mostly online work is sales work and you do need to be persuasive and convincing.
3. Be passionate and persistent
Do not give up on day 2.... It takes some time just like any other business to pick up...
4. Gather resources
Ensure you are armed with the necessities i.e.
- What you need to achieve your chosen venture e.g if it's writing you need at least a PC and data to meet your clients deadline
- If you are selling products, make sure that you do have the goods at hand. Don't make empty promises, remember you are seeking referrals.
